Failing in life?

How many times do you, a friend or some member of your family try putting some newly purchased thing together and are failing to accomplish the task; finding yourself or whoever is trying to do this getting very frustrated? This does happen all too often, to the point of breaking or damaging something before the realization kicks in that the assembling instructions have not been carefully read or followed, only browsing through them quickly, missing some key details before casting the instructions aside as if they were of no interest & need. The old “I’ve got this” attitude of pride and arrogance to do things your own way manifests itself. You’re too smart to need instructions! (So do the very instructions (in the Bible) for a happy and peaceful life, both physical and Spiritual get cast aside and go unheard by the majority? See the similar but older article Why failure”, dealing with certain important aspects of marriage, even as a convert in this life.)

In a world teetering on the brink of disasters and soon coming destruction, so many have the attitude and approach seen above. They however, in too many cases stumble in life and some even die in frustration, as if they had no way of knowing which way to turn to better their lives or gain right understanding!  (The instruction manual (Bible) remains on the shelf.) This “failing” is happening in every aspect of life today and people discard the instruction manual; trying to manage on their own. Did you also know that the true Gospel is being preached for that very reason, (Matt.24:14) to re-introduce humanity to the instruction manual but the majority who are witnessed to by it generally ignore it? Satan the devil wants you and every other human on earth to fail in this life and blinds the mind to the Gospel. (2Cor.4:3 & 4) This clouding of the mind to truth and following clear instructions given for life began in the Garden of Eden, actually. The serpent said to Eve in his effort to deceive the newly created humans; Gen 3:4-5 "You will not surely die. (Contradicting God who became Christ and His instructions to them—the devil was basically saying, “you do not need those instructions God gave you; you can do this on your own”) V.5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it (tree of knowledge) your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." (using NKJ throughout unless otherwise noted)   (See bible study titled The two Trees for more about them and that particular subject)

However they did die and everyone after them has died or been dying ever since! Mankind was NOT GIVEN an immortal soul as false Christianity teaches and everyone is going to die because of their own sins! Eze.18:4 "Behold, all souls are Mine; The soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is Mine; The soul who sins shall die.” This is repeated in V.20 but Satan through his deception, convinced Eve otherwise so that her and Adam have thus far failed in their purpose for life, bringing death to all humanity. (Rom. 6:23-first part)

The vast majority of humanity has failed in this life when it comes to the purpose for their existence, simply because they have failed to follow the instructions given for life! Christ, after coming in the flesh, gave the same formula for success for those who will heed at any point in this physical life; those who would accept and apply His words through the OT writings and His fleshly ministry. Today we have these words contained in the entire Bible, both old and new testaments. Note this in Deut. 30:15-16 "See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, 16 in that I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply;---V.19 “I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;”

Yet so many of those who claim to be Christian today, just like in times of old, ignore this or do not find it interesting enough to put any effort into reading and learning from! They tend to more readily entertain their own ideas or the writings and sayings of other men, instead of strictly following the instruction book, therefore are failing in the purpose of this life. We read that only the few are really willing to put forth enough effort to fully follow instructions and take the right path; Matt 7:13-14  "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.  14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”  Some just cannot seem to muster up enough patience, will or drive to follow the instructions that lead to life and just believe them; acting on that belief. This hinders them from freeing themselves from the captivity of Satan the devil. (2 Tim.2:25 & 26) This applies very much so to those claiming to be “Christians” today and even some in the COG realm who have a “need of nothing” attitude, (Rev.3:17) that of lukewarm compromise with what God says, which Christ says will have to be repented of (V.19) for them to enter into life.

Christ said to His disciples in Matt 6:33-34 “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” He had previously mentioned in this chapter many of the physical needs and desires that “The gentiles seek”—in other words, those who put their focus on the things in this physical life only or at least first and whatever they may gain in the here and now. That becomes their first priority and therefore most important focus at that moment in life. Christ continues in V.34 “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”  The key to a happy and prosperous physical life is to be focused on eternal life first and God’s ways foremost and leave the other things for God to take care of or supply.

Christ had said earlier, in V.24 "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.”  The word MAMMON is a common Aramaic word for "riches," or “things and desires” in this life, which Christ was trying to get His disciples, as well as you and me today, to see were not as important as obeying God and putting His ways first. These ways are just not that important for the majority to search out and hold onto—most are just not that interested, so they fail at some points of life, even their very own purpose for being. Some falsely believe just because they are in some church or religious organization, as those in Laodicea do—they have no other need.

The rich young man came to Christ, as you may recall reading, seeking eternal life—to be able to have life beyond the physical. Christ said; (Matt 19:17) “if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments." The man thought to justify himself, after hearing many of the Commandments listed by Christ, as being obedient and worthy of eternal life, because he said; V.20 "All these things I have kept from my youth. What do I still lack?" So Christ made it clear what he lacked and needed to do, even offered him discipleship with the others. Matt 19:21-22  "If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me."  22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.” His heart was not able to switch “Masters” and he was in reality serving mammon, but thinking he was obeying God. How many does this apply to today who think that the way they conduct their lives and treat others is just fine with God?

In his own mind, as so many are doing today, this young man was seeking eternal life and hoping to have immortality without really following all of the instructions given in the Words that lead to life. The apostles were coming to understand this teaching of Christ and they wanted to learn it. When others were starting to leave off following Christ, He asks the apostles "Do you also want to go away?"  But Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” (John 6:67-68) Christ had earlier in this same gospel of John stated; "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.” (John 5:24-25 from New International Version)

So if you feel you are thrashing about in life and may even feel you have become useless, adrift and not knowing what to do, who to trust or where to turn—remember the old saying; if all else fails, READ AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS! Get out your Bible and begin to read and believe it’s instructions for life and the only way given to get there!

This is such a simple procedure for all aspects of life that many ignore it, looking elsewhere for a solution to their problems and to continue to “get” what they want now.

This is not some fantasy or just another story with little or no meaning; take the appropriate actions given in the instruction manual, with faith and belief; for a better way of living, marriage, happier physical life and blessings along the way to real life. Be willing to repent of every sin and stubbornness; begin to apply what’s in the instruction manual for true life beyond the physical. The Bible was written for those who genuinely want to find that narrow path and will inherit eternal life for getting on it and staying on it! (It also reveals the consequences for ignoring it.)Time is running out for anyone to make a course correction, especially for those who may now be slowly but surely failing in both physical and Spiritual life. We all need to ask God in faith to open our eyes and grant us the repentance and reconciliation; the change we need to make in our self, before it is too late!
